# xLending

The initial product of the protocol is xLending, which enhances capital efficiency and user experience for crosschain lending markets through a [hub-and-spoke model](/xlending/architecture). This allows for seamless interactions across multiple blockchain networks.

### **Benefits of Hub and Spoke Model**

* **Capital Efficiency:** All liquidity is available irrespective of which chain the user is on, maximizing capital efficiency.
* **User Convenience:** Users can interact with the protocol from their favorite wallet and familiar chains, lowering the barriers to entry.
* **Cross-Chain Collateralization:** Users can use funds deposited on one chain as collateral to borrow on another, enhancing the flexibility and usability of the protocol.

### Cross-chain Messaging

Cross-chain messaging is a critical component of Folks Finance, enabling secure and efficient communication between the hub and spoke chains. This ensures that transactions are consistent and reliable across different blockchain networks.

# Architecture

Folks Finance employs a hub-and-spoke architecture to efficiently manage cross-chain interactions. This model ensures liquidity, security, and ease of use across multiple blockchains.

### **Hub and Spoke Structure**

<figure><img src="/files/gJiOiW1X0iJjbAa3QzfA" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

1. **Hub Chain:**
   * The hub chain stores the entire state of the protocol. The unified state storage ensures consistency and avoids issues related to asynchronicity and race conditions between chains.
   * All protocol logic and state updates are handled by the hub chain, making it the axis of coordination for all transactions.
2. **Spoke Chains:**
   * Spoke chains act as entry points for users interacting with Folks Finance. They connect outlying blockchains to the central hub chain.
   * Unlike the hub chain, spoke chains do not store any state related to lending functionality. They only maintain state related to communication with the hub chain, thereby simplifying the overall architecture and reducing the risk of inconsistencies.

**Benefits of Hub and Spoke Model**

**Key Communication Protocols**

1. **Wormhole:**
   * Wormhole provides a cross-chain messaging protocol that allows secure and efficient communication between the hub and spoke chains.
   * It uses an automatic relayer to send and receive messages, ensuring the integrity and reliability of the data being transferred.
2. **Chainlink CCIP (Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol):**
   * Chainlink CCIP facilitates cross-chain communication by providing a secure method to send and receive messages between chains.
   * It leverages Chainlink’s decentralized oracle network to ensure the security and accuracy of cross-chain messages.
3. **Circle CCTP (Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol):**
   * Circle CCTP enables cross-chain native USDC transfers, providing a secure and efficient way to transfer USDC between different blockchains.

**Cross-Chain Messaging Architecture**

* **Generic Messaging Protocol (GMP):**
  * The hub chain and spoke chains communicate using GMPs such as Wormhole, Chainlink CCIP, and Circle CCTP.
  * GMPs are responsible for relaying messages between the hub and spoke chains, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and executed.
* **BridgeRouter:**
  * The BridgeRouter abstracts the differences between available GMPs, routing messages to the appropriate protocol based on user specifications and system requirements.
  * It also handles message storage for failed transactions, allowing for retries or reversals as necessary.

**Message Lifecycle**

1. **Sending a Message:**
   * When a user initiates a transaction on a spoke chain, the message is sent to the hub chain using the specified GMP.
   * The message parameters include details such as the adapter ID, destination chain ID, payload, and finality level.
2. **Receiving a Message:**
   * The hub chain receives the message, verifies its integrity, and processes it accordingly.
   * Upon processing, the hub chain may send a return message to the spoke chain to confirm the transaction's completion.
3. **Finality and Security:**
   * Finality is crucial for ensuring that transactions cannot be reversed or altered once confirmed. Folks Finance waits for finality on the spoke chain before relaying messages to the hub chain for critical operations like deposits and repayments.
   * For operations that do not involve value transfer, finality is not required, allowing for immediate message relaying to enhance user experience.

**Cross-Chain Messaging Components**

1. **BridgeMessenger:**
   * An abstract contract that enables inheritors to send and receive messages without needing to know the internal details of the GMPs.
2. **BridgeRouter:**
   * The BridgeRouter abstracts the differences between available GMPs, routing messages to the appropriate protocol based on user specifications and system requirements.
   * Responsibilities include:
     * Routing a requested message to the specified GMP.
     * Forwarding a received message to the desired smart contract.
     * Storing failed messages to be retried or reversed.
3. **Adapters:**
   * Each GMP has its own adapter that implements the necessary interfaces for communication.
   * Example: The WormholeAdapter and CCIPAdapter convert messages to a common format for processing by the BridgeRouter.

**Error Handling and Recovery**

1. **Error Recording:**
   * If a message fails to be processed, the BridgeRouter records the error and stores the message for future action.
2. **Retry and Reverse Functions:**
   * Users have the option to retry failed messages or reverse the operation to return any locked funds back to their original state.

**Detailed Message Lifecycle Example**

1. **Initiating a Transaction:**
   * A user submits an "Invite Address" transaction to the spoke chain, specifying the use of CCIP for cross-chain communication.
   * The spoke chain calls BridgeRouter with the necessary parameters.
2. **Forwarding the Message:**
   * The BridgeRouter verifies the sender and forwards the message to the appropriate adapter (e.g., CCIPAdapter).
   * The adapter processes the message and sends it to the corresponding adapter on the hub chain.
3. **Receiving the Message:**
   * The hub chain adapter receives the message, verifies its integrity, and processes it.
   * The BridgeRouter stores the message details for retry or reversal if necessary.

# User account

Accounts in Folks Finance are designed to manage users' positions and facilitate lending functionality across multiple blockchains. Each account is uniquely identified and allows for efficient cross-chain operations.

**Account Structure**

* **Unique Identifier:** Each account has a unique `bytes32` identifier.
* **Blockchain Addresses:** Accounts are managed using blockchain addresses, uniquely identified by the tuple `(chain identifier, chain address)`.

**Key Features**

1. **Single Address per Chain:**
   * Each account can have at most one address registered per spoke chain. This simplification ensures that operations are streamlined and user-friendly.
   * For example, if a user is borrowing ETH, they will receive it in their registered Ethereum address without needing to specify which address to use.
2. **Unique Address Registration:**
   * The same `(chain identifier, chain address)` pair cannot be registered to multiple accounts. This prevents confusion and ensures that users do not unintentionally interact with the wrong account.
   * The concept of inviting and accepting is used to manage address registrations. An existing registered address can invite another address from a different spoke chain to join the account. The invited address must then accept the invitation to be registered.
3. **Delegated Addresses:**
   * To enhance composability and allow other protocols to build on top of Folks Finance, accounts can add "delegated addresses." These addresses can manage accounts from the hub chain.
   * Multiple delegated addresses can be added to a single account, and the same address can be delegated to by multiple accounts. This feature is intended for use by other smart contracts on the hub chain that leverage the Folks Finance protocol.

**Account Operations**

1. **Invite and Accept:**
   * An address from one spoke chain can invite another address from a different spoke chain to join the account.
   * The invitee must accept the invitation for the registration to be completed.
2. **Manage Account:**
   * Once registered, addresses can manage the account, including withdrawing, inviting other addresses, and more.
3. **Delegation:**
   * Delegated addresses are given privileges to manage the account, allowing for seamless integration with other protocols and services.

**Security Considerations**

* **Denial of Service Protection:**
  * To prevent denial of service attacks, the same `(chain identifier, chain address)` pair cannot be registered to multiple accounts. This ensures that malicious actors cannot add an address to their account to block its use elsewhere.
* **Trusted Integrators:**
  * It is crucial for users to verify the addresses they delegate to. Malicious addresses can steal funds, so users must be cautious and only delegate to trusted integrators.

# Linking and Inviting Addresses

### Linking and Inviting Addresses in Folks Finance

#### Difference Between Inviting and Linking an Address in Folks Finance

In the Folks Finance cross-chain lending protocol, inviting and linking an address are interrelated mechanisms used for account management. Linking is a streamlined frontend process for adding an address that the user owns, whereas inviting is a more generalized concept that can also involve addresses controlled by other individuals. Here is a detailed explanation of both processes and their differences:&#x20;

**Linking an Address**

**Definition:**

Linking an address is a frontend process designed to streamline the addition of an address that the user owns to the Folks Finance lending account by automating the inviting and accepting steps.

* Linking addresses is the simplest way to connect user account to different chains with minimal hassle.

Process:

1. Linking:

* A user submits a "link address" transaction from a spoke chain.
* This transaction is immediately relayed to the hub chain, and the hub chain updates its state with the new information.

**Example Use Case:**

* A user wants to link their Polygon address to their Folks Finance account on the hub chain to allow for quick management and transactions across chains.

#### Inviting an Address (available soon)

**Definition:**

Inviting an address is a process where an existing registered address of an account can invite another address from a different spoke chain to join the account. This invited address can be controlled by another person. The invitee must then accept the invitation for the registration to be completed.\
\
Inviting addresses is useful for:

* Connecting an address which is hosted in a different wallet, like your mobile phone vs. desktop browser wallets.
* Creating collaborative accounts with friends or colleagues.

**Process:**

1. **Invitation:**

* An existing address within an account initiates an invitation to another address.
* This invitation is sent through a cross-chain message from the spoke chain of the inviting address to the hub chain.

2. **Acceptance:**

* The invited address must accept the invitation for it to become registered to the account.
* Once accepted, the invited address gains the same permissions and management capabilities as the original address.

**Example Use Case:**

* A user on the Ethereum blockchain invites a friend’s Binance Smart Chain address to help manage their Folks Finance account. The Binance Smart Chain address must accept this invitation to gain management rights.

# Interest Rate Model

The interest rate model in Folks Finance is designed to dynamically balance supply and demand, ensuring competitive rates for both borrowers and depositors. This model is crucial for maintaining the stability and efficiency of the lending protocol.

**Key Concepts**

1. **Utilization Ratio (U):**
   * The utilization ratio measures how much of the available pool of assets has been borrowed compared to the total deposited.
   * Formula: $$U = \frac{\text{Total Borrowed}}{\text{Total Deposited}}$$
2. **Variable and Stable Interest Rates:**
   * **Variable Interest Rate:** This rate fluctuates according to the utilization ratio.
   * **Stable Interest Rate:** This rate is fixed at the time of borrowing but can be rebalanced to ensure the protocol’s stability.

**Interest Rate Calculations**

1. **Variable Borrow Interest Rate** $$i\_{vb}$$**:**
   * The variable interest rate depends on the utilization ratio and is calculated using the following formulas:
     * If $$U\_t < U\_{Opt}$$ : $$i\_{vb}(t) = R\_{v0} + \frac{U\_t}{U\_{Opt}} \times R\_{v1}$$
     * If $$U\_t \geq U\_{Opt}$$ : $$i\_{vb}(t) = R\_{v0} + R\_{v1} + \frac{U\_t - U\_{Opt}}{1 - U\_{Opt}} \times R\_{v2}$$
2. **Stable Borrow Interest Rate**  $$i\_{sb}$$ **:**
   * The stable interest rate is calculated similarly but includes additional parameters to handle the ratio of stable borrows:
     * If $$U\_t \leq U\_{Opt}$$  :  $$i\_{sb}(t) = R\_{v1} + R\_{s0} \left(\frac{U\_t}{U\_{Opt}}\right) \times R\_{s1}$$
     * If $$U\_t > U\_{Opt}$$ : $$i\_{sb}(t) = (R\_{v1} + R\_{s0}) + R\_{s1} + \frac{U\_t - U\_{Opt}}{1 - U\_{Opt}} \times R\_{s2}$$
3. **Rebalancing Stable Rates:**
   * To maintain protocol stability, stable rates may need rebalancing under specific conditions:
     * **Rebalancing Down:** When the current stable rate exceeds the pool’s current stable rate by a defined margin.
     * **Rebalancing Up:** When the utilization ratio and deposit interest rate meet certain thresholds.

**Deposit Interest Rate**

1. **Calculation:**
   * The deposit interest rate, earned by depositors, is derived from the interest paid by borrowers.
   * Formula: $$i\_d(t) = U\_t \times i\_b(t) \times (1 - RR)$$
   * $$i\_b(t)$$ is the overall borrow interest rate, which is a weighted average of variable and stable borrow rates.
   * ( RR ) is the retention rate, representing the protocol's fee.
2. **Borrow Interest Amount** $$O\_{sb}$$**:**
   * The stable borrow interest amount is the sum of the stable borrowed amounts multiplied by their respective interest rates.
   * Formula: $$O\_{sb}(t) = \sum B\_i \times i\_{sb}(i)$$

**Collateral and Borrow Limits**

1. **Collateral Factor (CF):**
   * The collateral factor determines how much a user can borrow against their collateral, expressed as a percentage.
   * Example: USDC might have a CF of 80%, meaning $10 of USDC allows borrowing up to $8 in value.
2. **Borrow Amount Calculation:**
   * The borrowable amount (BA) is calculated based on the user's collateral balance, the price of the collateral, and the collateral factor.
   * Formula: $$BA(t) = \sum (A\_{t\_i} \times P\_i \times CF\_i)$$
3. **Borrow Factor (BF):**
   * The borrow factor adjusts the effective borrowed amount to account for asset volatility.
   * Example: BTC might have a BF of 110%, meaning $10 borrowed is effectively $11 due to its volatility.

## **Rebalancing**

Although a user locks in a borrow interest rate when stable borrowing, under certain conditions, it may be necessary to rebalance their borrow interest rate. Rebalancing means that the user’s stable borrow interest rate is updated to the pool’s current stable interest rate $$i\_{sb\_t}$$

To rebalance the stable rate down, the user’s loan stable rate $$i\_{sb\_{old}}$$ needs to be greater than the current stable rate $$i\_{sb\_t}$$ plus a delta, for instance, ∆=20%.

$$
i\_{sb\_{old}} \geq i\_{sb\_t} \cdot (1 + \Delta)
$$

To rebalance the stable rate up, two conditions have to be met at the same time. The first requires the utilization ratio to be greater than or equal to a given threshold, for instance, $$U\_{RU}=95%$$%. The second requires the deposit interest rate to be less than or equal to a given percentage of the max variable interest rate, for instance $$DIR\_{RU}=25$$%.

$$
U\_t \geq U\_{RU}
$$

$$
i\_{d\_t} \leq DIR\_{RU} \left( R\_{v\_0} + R\_{v\_1} + R\_{v\_2} \right)
$$

# Liquidation Process

The liquidation process in Folks Finance ensures the stability and security of the protocol by managing under-collateralized loans. This process involves third parties who liquidate these loans, receiving incentives for maintaining protocol health.

### How Does Liquidation Work?

1. The protocol detects an under-collateralized position.
2. A liquidator repays part of the loan on behalf of the borrower.
3. In exchange, they receive a portion of the borrower’s collateral — with a bonus.

### When Does Liquidation Happen?

Liquidation occurs when the total borrowed amount exceeds the borrowable amount. It happens when someone who borrowed doesn’t have enough collateral to cover their loan anymore due to price changes or the accumulation of borrow interests:

<details>

<summary>Formula: <span class="math">TB(t) > BA(t) </span></summary>

Where:

* $$TB(t)$$ is the total borrowed amount at time t.
* $$BA(t)$$ is the borrowable amount at time t.

</details>

### Who Handles Liquidation?

Third-party liquidators intervene to repay a portion of the borrower’s outstanding debt when a position becomes under-collateralized. In exchange, they receive a corresponding amount of the borrower’s collateral, along with a liquidation bonus as compensation.

**Liquidation Bonus:**

Liquidators receive a bonus for repaying the under-collateralized position.

Example: A liquidation bonus of 10% means that if $50 is repaid, $55 worth of collateral is seized.

<details>

<summary>Formula:  <span class="math">{collateral.seized}= BtoC_t(x) \times (1 + {liq.bonus})</span></summary>

Where:

* $$x$$ is the amount of the borrowed asset being repaid.
* $$BtoC\_t(x)$$ is the conversion formula from borrow to collateral.
* $${liq.bonus}$$ is the liquidation bonus percentage.

</details>

**Liquidation Fees:**

A portion of the liquidation bonus is retained by the protocol as revenue.

Example: With a liquidation fee of 20%, if the collateral seized is $55, the protocol retains $1 as revenue.

<details>

<summary>Formula: <span class="math">L_t^R = {collateral.seized.as.bonus} \times {liq.fee}</span></summary>

Where:

* $$L\_t^R$$ is the liquidation fee retained by the protocol.
* $${collateral.seized.as.bonus}$$ is the bonus portion of the collateral seized.
* $${liq.fee}$$ is the liquidation fee percentage.

</details>

**Remaining Collateral:**

The remaining collateral after the liquidation fee is retained by the liquidator.

<details>

<summary>Formula: <span class="math">L_t = {collateral.seized} - L_t^R</span></summary>

Where:

* $$L\_t$$ is the remaining collateral retained by the liquidator.

</details>

**Liquidations from Spoke Chains**&#x20;

Liquidations from Spoke Chains often fail due to asynchronicity in price updates and the limitation that only one liquidator can act at a time. In Folks Finance, **liquidations are instead processed on the Hub Chain.** Rather than requiring the liquidator to repay the borrow directly from the Spoke Chain, the debt and seized collateral are transferred to them on the Hub Chain, ensuring smoother execution without the need for token recovery in case of failure.

# Cross-Chain Messaging

#### Cross-Chain Messaging

Cross-chain messaging is a critical component of Folks Finance, enabling secure and efficient communication between the hub and spoke chains. This ensures that transactions are consistent and reliable across different blockchain networks.

* **Generic Messaging Protocol (GMP):**
  * The hub chain and spoke chains communicate using GMPs such as Wormhole, Chainlink CCIP, and Circle CCTP.
  * GMPs are responsible for relaying messages between the hub and spoke chains, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and executed.
* **BridgeRouter:**

   * Responsibilities include:

   * The spoke chain calls BridgeRouter with the necessary parameters.$$\text{BridgeRouter}( \text{params}, \text{sender}, \text{destinationChainId}, \text{handler}, \text{payload}, \text{finalityLevel}, \text{extraArgs})$$&#x20;

# Security Measures

At Folks Finance, security is a top priority, ensuring users' funds are fully protected from potential threats. The protocol incorporates a robust range of security measures to maintain the platform's integrity and reliability.

**Key Security Measures**

**Smart Contract Audits:**

Folks Finance undergoes regular audits by leading security firms to identify and fix vulnerabilities in its smart contracts.

| Audit firm | Link                                                                                                                                                      |

**Bug Bounty Programs:**

The platform incentivizes the community to identify and report potential vulnerabilities through bug bounty programs. Folks Finance has stumped up $200,000 as a bounty for hackers who can identify vulnerabilities in the code.

{% embed url="<https://immunefi.com/bug-bounty/folksfinance/information/>" %}

**Rate Limits:**

* To minimize risk and limit potential losses, rate limits are imposed on the maximum amount that can be transferred within a given period.
* This mechanism helps prevent large-scale exploits and ensures controlled value transfer across the protocol.

#### Secure and Reliable Oracles

Folks Finance leverages decentralized oracle like Chainlink and Pyth Network to ensure accurate and tamper-resistant price feeds. These inputs are further validated by internal consistency and freshness checks before being utilized on-chain, mitigating the risk of price manipulation.

#### Asset-Specific Limits

Folks Finance set [Collateral Caps and Borrow Caps](/technical-details/parameters), denominated in USD, for each supported asset to ensure controlled exposure and prevent excessive risk concentration.

# Oracle

Oracle is a crucial component in decentralized finance (DeFi) as it provides external data to smart contracts. \
Folks Finance uses an architecture that provides feeds that are:

* **Secure:** delivered by the most trusted oracle protocols e.g. [Chainlink](https://chain.link/), [Pyth](https://pyth.network/), [DIA](https://www.diadata.org/).
* **Reliable:** the prices, provided by multiple oracles, must be coherent i.e. not differ by more than a certain threshold.
* **Up-to-date:** each price must have been updated within a certain time threshold.

In order to accomplish this, Folks Finance relies on:

* **Chainlink**: a decentralized oracle network that enables smart contracts to interact with real-world data securely. It uses a network of independent oracles to fetch and verify external data, ensuring high security, reliability, and tamper-proof data inputs.
* **Pyth Network**: a specialized oracle network designed to provide high-fidelity, low-latency financial market data to smart contracts. It focuses on delivering real-time price feeds from a consortium of leading trading firms, exchanges, and other financial institutions.&#x20;
* **DIA**: a trustless oracle network that delivers verifiable data feeds to onchain applications, auditable from source to chain. It sources first-party trade data directly from over 100 exchanges and publishes each feed with a fully inspectable methodology, covering both digital assets and tokenized real-world assets.

{% hint style="info" %}
In the [Hub and Spoke model](/xlending/architecture#hub-and-spoke-structure), feeds are only needed in the Hub, where the protocol pools and logics are located. Each pool is directly linked to an asset, and as a result, to its feed. The OracleManager contract allows for the retrieval of an asset's price directly from its pool id, which can then be used in the protocol. This contract interacts with the NodeManager, which is responsible for fetching the feeds from the mentioned oracles and carrying out defined checks such as staleness and price threshold.
{% endhint %}

# Points system

The Folks Finance points system is designed to reward users for engaging with the protocol, encouraging continued participation and long-term usage. Points are accumulated separately for each token type (e.g., USDC, ETH, AVAX), and users can track their total points across different activities and assets.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/oJ6SZ1eIGXsH1gyp3BCw" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### How Points Are Earned

1. Depositing and Collateralizing:

   Users earn points when they deposit assets into the protocol or use their assets as collateral. The more you deposit and the longer you keep your deposit or collateral, the more points you accumulate.
2. Borrowing:

   Points are awarded for borrowing assets from the protocol. The longer the borrowed position is maintained, the more points the user earns.
3. Repaying:

   Users accumulate points by repaying borrowed funds.
4. On-Chain and Social Tasks: \
   Additional points can be earned by completing tasks on-chain or via social platforms like [Galxe](https://app.galxe.com/quest/FolksFinance/GC5j2txPjh) and other integrations.
5. Referral:

   Users can earn points by inviting others to join the platform, with points granted to both the referrer and the referred user.

{% hint style="success" %}
In line with Folks Finance’s cross-chain philosophy, assets that are natively cross-chain are assigned a higher score in the point system. This reflects their unique ability to facilitate interoperability across different blockchain ecosystems, aligning with Folks Finance's mission to support and promote a more connected and efficient DeFi landscape.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Algorand users get points through the above methods plus the following:

1. Liquid staking:\
   Users earn points by staking ALGO. The more ALGO deposited and the longer it remains staked, the more points are earned. [Stake now](https://app.folks.finance/liquid-staking).
2. Swaps:\
   Users collect points performing swaps through Folks Router aggregator.
3. Flash Loans:\
   Users who performs flash loan are eligible to earn points.&#x20;

### FAQ

1. Can I get points on depositing on Algorand and xChain? Yes, xChain and Algorand points are collected separated and they are merged in a single leaderboard.
2. Will Algorand users who interacted with the Algorand app before the introduction of the points system receive a retroactive drop? Yes.&#x20;
3. Can I link multiple Algorand addresses to my xChain account? Yes.
   {% endhint %}

### Referral system

Folks Finance's referral system is designed to incentivise users to invite other users to the platform by rewarding both the referrer and the referred user. When a new user joins the protocol using a referral link, they earn ‘first sign-ins’ points after creating their first account, and the referrer earns a percentage of the referrer's accumulated points over time. This system encourages community growth and engagement, offering a win-win scenario for both parties, who benefit from increased participation. Referrers can keep track of points earned through referrals directly in their dashboard.

### Leaderboard&#x20;

The leaderboard offers a transparent way to track progress and performance within the Folks Finance Incentives Program. Points accumulated through various activities and contributions are reflected here, allowing participants to see how they rank compared to others.

# Interests

### Deposit Boost

To incentivize engagement with the xChain protocol, Folks Finance has introduced a rewards program that distributes token to users who actively deposit assets and/or use them as collateral.

The incentive distribution is managed by a public smart contract, ensuring transparency and automation in the reward process. Rewards are distributed weekly, and users can claim their accumulated rewards directly within the protocol.

The total amount of rewards distributed each week is determined by Folks Finance and may vary over time based on the market strategies and users requests.

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th data-hidden data-card-cover data-type="files"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Folks Finance has received a total of 13,145 AVAX from Avalanche Foundation, either already distributed or currently being distributed.</td><td><a href="/files/CHsMH8gXkoS2n0I51LmG">/files/CHsMH8gXkoS2n0I51LmG</a></td></tr><tr><td>Folks Finance has received a total of 25,000 USDC from Arbitrum Foundation, either already distributed or currently being distributed.</td><td><a href="/files/056WjLMDbJcFCj6Sq6uF">/files/056WjLMDbJcFCj6Sq6uF</a></td></tr><tr><td>Folks Finance has received an equivalent of 300,000 USD from Polygon Foundation, either already distributed or currently being distributed.</td><td><a href="/files/c7BWAHVE6rpY0zt6vWNE">/files/c7BWAHVE6rpY0zt6vWNE</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

#### How to claim rewards

1. Once the weekly incentives period ends, go to your Deposit or Loan page.
2. Click on Claim Rewards
3. Click on Claim and sign with your wallet.

{% hint style="info" %}
[Click here for a detailed spreadsheet of Folks’ incentive distribution plans.](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1b2mH4N4OdIBRKJoXWwtS19IoBhF9oUOavW2rXqUdiZ8/edit?gid=0#gid=0)&#x20;
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Deposits or collateral valued at less than $1 will not be considered for any distributions. Additionally, pending rewards amounting to less than 0.0001 AVAX will not be considered.
{% endhint %}

### Intrinsic APY

Intrinsic APY refers to the yield generated *natively* by the asset itself, independent of any additional rewards provided by Folks Finance.

This may include:

* Staking rewards: If the token supports staking, it can produce protocol-level rewards as part of its native functionality.
* External incentives: Some tokens may receive incentives from third-party protocols or ecosystem programs.

### Disclaimer

FOLKS FINANCE is an open-source, non-custodial decentralised protocol comprised exclusively of autonomous smart contracts deployed on public blockchains (the “Protocol”). The Protocol is permissionless and ownerless by design and is not operated, managed, or controlled by any person or entity. The Protocol is not a financial, payment, investment, banking, lending, borrowing, deposit-taking, custody, brokerage, or money-transmission service in any jurisdiction.

Any terminology used on this website or within related interfaces, including without limitation “loan”, “borrow”, “lend”, “debt”, “deposit”, “collateral”, “liquidation”, “LTV” or similar expressions, is used solely as a technical or functional reference in a decentralised software context and does not carry the legal or regulatory meaning those terms may have in traditional or regulated financial environments.

The Protocol is not designed for, and must not be used with, tokenised securities or other “security tokens” (or assets that are marketed or structured as such). The Protocol does not provide or operate any payment or money-transmission service and is not intended to facilitate person-to-person payments or third-party payments as a protocol feature. Any token movements occur solely as a technical consequence of user-initiated interactions with smart contracts and the underlying blockchain.

Governance of the Protocol and its ongoing development are fostered by the FOLKS FINANCE PRIVATE FOUNDATION (the “Foundation”), a non-profit foundation. The $FOLKS token (and any other protocol-related tokens) is issued and administered by the Foundation through its subsidiary FOLKS INTERNATIONAL LTD. Neither the Foundation nor FOLKS INTERNATIONAL LTD operates or controls the Protocol’s smart contracts.

This website and the non-custodial graphical user interface enabling interaction with the Protocol are developed and maintained by BLOCKBOX LLC, acting as a software development and maintenance provider engaged by the Foundation. BLOCKBOX LLC does not own, control, manage, or operate the Protocol or its smart contracts. Access to the website/interface may be restricted or blocked (including by geography, sanctions screening, or risk controls) at the interface level only; such measures do not imply control over, nor do they modify, the Protocol.

BLOCKBOX LLC is a Virtual Asset Service Provider licensed and regulated in the Kutaisi FEZ (Georgia). Separately and independently from the Protocol, BLOCKBOX LLC operates a distinct, partially centralised application under its own terms, which may offer additional proprietary features/services and may also provide an alternative interface to access the Protocol. Any custodial or partially centralised features (if any) exist only within that separate application and are legally and operationally independent from the Protocol.

The website/interface may link to or integrate third-party services; any services provided by third parties are governed solely by the relevant third parties’ terms and are outside the Protocol. Nothing on this website constitutes legal, financial, investment, or regulatory advice, nor an offer or solicitation of any kind.

# FAQ

**General Questions**

**Q: What is Folks Finance?**&#x20;

A: Folks Finance is a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform that offers cross-chain lending and borrowing services, utilizing a hub-and-spoke architecture to provide efficient liquidity and seamless cross-chain interactions.

**Q: How does the cross-chain functionality work?**&#x20;

A: Folks Finance uses a hub-and-spoke model, where the hub chain stores the entire state of the protocol, and spoke chains act as entry points for users. Cross-chain communication is facilitated using protocols like Wormhole, Chainlink CCIP, and Circle CCTP.

**Q: What are the main features of Folks Finance?**&#x20;

A: Key features include cross-chain lending and borrowing, unified liquidity pools, advanced lending options like collateral swaps, and an innovative incentive model designed for sustainability.

**Q: What is "Waiting relay"?**

A: Waiting Relay indicates that a transaction has been initiated from a spoke chain and is awaiting delivery to the hub chain via the Generic Messaging Protocol (GMP) such as Wormhole or Chainlink CCIP. For certain operations like deposits, collateralization, and repayments, the waiting time is longer as it requires achieving finality on the spoke chain where the operation was initiated. The Waiting Relay is necessary because it avoids potential risks such as double spending by ensuring that a transaction has been fully confirmed on the source chain before proceeding.

**Account Management**

**Q: What is the difference between inviting and linking an address?**&#x20;

A: Inviting an address requires the invited address to accept the invitation to gain access, providing extra security. Linking an address adds the address immediately without needing approval, offering quick access. Linking addresses is the easiest way to connect chains from the same wallet. Inviting addresses is useful when connecting chains from different wallets.

**Q: How do I invite an address to my account?**&#x20;

A: Navigate to the account management section, send an invitation to the desired address, and wait for the address to accept the invitation.

**Q: How do I link an address to my account?**&#x20;

A: Submit a "link address" transaction from your spoke chain, and the address will be added immediately without needing further approval.

**Lending and Borrowing**

**Q: How are interest rates determined?**&#x20;

A: Interest rates are dynamically adjusted based on the utilization ratio. Borrowers can choose between variable and stable interest rates.

**Q: What is the utilization ratio?**&#x20;

A: The utilization ratio measures how much of the available pool of assets has been borrowed compared to the total deposited.

$$
U = \frac{\text{Total Borrowed}}{\text{Total Deposited}}
$$

**Q: How does the liquidation process work?**&#x20;

A: Liquidation occurs when the total borrowed amount exceeds the borrowable amount. Liquidators repay the under-collateralized position and receive a bonus in the form of collateral.

**Security**

**Q: What security measures are in place?**&#x20;

A: Folks Finance employs regular smart contract audits, bug bounty programs, rate limits on value transfers, and comprehensive error handling and recovery mechanisms to ensure the safety and integrity of the platform.

**Q: What are rate limits?**&#x20;

A: Rate limits define the maximum value that can be transferred out of the protocol within a specified period to minimize risk and potential losses.

**Technical Details**

**Q: How does cross-chain communication ensure finality?**&#x20;

A: For operations like deposits and repayments, finality is awaited on the spoke chain before relaying messages to the hub chain to prevent transaction reversal or alteration.

**Miscellaneous**

**Q: Is there a minimum amount required to use Folks Finance?**&#x20;

A: There is no minimum amount required, making the platform accessible to everyone.

# FOLKS

<figure><img src="/files/syYMQgkCdcFn9yT3hb7O" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The FOLKS token is the native asset of the Folks Finance protocol. Following the protocol’s crosschain architecture, FOLKS uses the[ NTT standard](https://wormhole.com/products/native-token-transfers) and is native on multiple chains. This means there’s only one token across all networks (no wrapping, no synthetic copies). \
\
Currently, FOLKS is natively live on: Avalanche, Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Polygon, Algorand, and Sei Network.\
\
More native deployments will follow based on the Folks Finance chain integrations roadmap.&#x20;

# Airdrop

Claim your token here:

{% embed url="<https://claim.folks.finance/en>" %}

The Folks Finance airdrop is designed to reward the most active and engaged users while ensuring a fair and inclusive distribution for the entire community.

***

#### Distribution Methodology

Season 1 of the airdrop distributes 1,646,479 FOLKS tokens (3,29% of total supply), allocated across several eligibility criteria: Folks Points, Founders Pass NFT holders, and partner campaign winners (Okx Wallet, Haha Wallet, Zerion Wallet, Gate Wallet, Airaa mindshare campaign, Orbiter campaign, Galxe campaign).

Snapshot was taken on October 24th, 2025, at \~11:00 UTC. Points or NFTs obtained after this snapshot already count toward eligibility for future seasons.

Folks Points allocations are determined by users’ performance in the Leaderboard campaign, using a natural logarithm function to balance score disparities between top and mid-tier participants. Minimum eligibility is 1,000,000 points.

Each Founders Pass NFT grants 30 $FOLKS, cumulative by quantity. Addresses that also have ≥ 1 M points receive a bonus based on their NFT tier:

* 1 or more Silver NFTs → +10 $FOLKS
* 1 or more Gold NFTs → +20 $FOLKS
* 1 or more Black NFTs → +30 $FOLKS

If an NFT was held before the snapshot but is not linked to an xChain account or Algorand address, the allocation doesn’t show in the checker and won’t be possible to claim manually, but will be airdropped directly to that wallet shortly after claim goes live.

Partner campaign and NFT allocations are not subject to the Instant / Linear Unlock claim options — they are fully claimable immediately in both cases.

Rewards from Zerion Wallet and the Airaa mindshare campaign will be distributed directly by them. Follow their official channels for updates.

#### Claiming Options

Eligible users receive the airdrop full amount only if they decide to opt for a 3-month linear unlock. Alternatively, users have the option to instant claim and receive a partial amount.

The claim window (for both options) runs from November 6, 14:00 UTC to December 16, 13:00 UTC.\
For clarity, in the examples we will use a scenario where User A is eligible for a total airdrop allocation of 100 FOLKS.

**Instant Claim**\
Users receive 20% of their allocation immediately, with no further action required after claiming.

E.g. User A decides to Instant Claim and receives only 20 FOLKS from the total 100 FOLKS allocation.

**Linear Unlock Claim**

Users receive 10% of their allocation immediately, and the remaining 90% unlocks linearly over 90 days from the beginning of the unlock period.\
The unlock period runs from December 16th, 2025, at 14:00 UTC to March 16th, 2026, at 14:00 UTC, users can claim unlocked tokens at any time during this period.\
The claiming window will close on March 31st, 2026, at 14:00 UTC. Any unclaimed tokens after this date will be lost.

E.g. User A decides to opt for the Linear Unlock Claim. They receive 10 FOLKS immediately, then 1 FOLKS per day over the 90-day unlock period.<br>

**General warnings:**

* Users must choose between Instant Claim and Linear Unlock Claim before December 16, 2025, at 13:00 UTC. Failure to make a choice by this deadline results in permanent loss of the entire airdrop allocation.
* Once a claim option is selected and confirmed, it cannot be changed.
* The Linear Unlock period begins on December 16, 2025, at 14:00 UTC, and continues for 90 days until March 16, 2026, at 14:00 UTC.
* Once the unlock period ends, users have until March 31, 2026, at 14:00 UTC to claim any remaining unlocked tokens. Any unclaimed tokens after this date will be permanently lost.
